Alright folks, buckle up because Granview RV Park in Granum is a true gem… but like any gem, it has a few rough edges. And let me tell you, those edges showed up bright and early on Monday afternoon when we had our first run-in with the Granum junior moto squad. But more on that in a second.

Let’s start with the good stuff because, honestly, this park had me at pond. Yep, a beautiful pond right in the center of the park where you can fish, swim, and bask in the glory of having water nearby (unless you’re a chihuahua—sorry guys, no dogs allowed). It’s the kind of place where you expect to see a swan gracefully gliding by or someone casting a perfect fishing line.

But here’s the kicker (pun intended)—there’s an off-leash dog park, and it’s a former baseball field. So while John is out there pretending he’s on Manchester United, the chihuahuas are living their best life running around the outfield. It was like a tiny furry version of Field of Dreams, minus the ghosts and the baseball.

And just to add to the fun, there’s a disc golf course that winds through the park. Now, in theory, this sounds amazing, right? Frisbees, trees, a bit of exercise… Until the wind kicks in. This wasn’t just a gentle breeze. This was full-on, hold-your-hat-down wind. Have you ever tried throwing a frisbee in a hurricane? Yeah, me neither, but I imagine it feels a lot like Granview on a windy day. I started thinking the disc golf course was a test of survival more than anything else. If I had brought discs, they’d probably be orbiting Jupiter by now.

Of course, this park has all the amenities—clean showers, full hook-ups, laundry, propane down the road—you name it. The staff? Lovely humans. But, let’s not get too comfortable because, as I found out on Tuesday, there’s a little surprise waiting next door.

So, picture this: Monday was a blissfully quiet holiday. We were lounging by the pond, John was kicking his soccer ball, and Casey was trying to look like a tough guy from the comfort of his carrier. But then Tuesday came. Tuesday morning, to be exact. And guess what’s right next door to Granview RV Park? A school. Yep, nothing like the sound of a school bell to shake you out of RV zen.

Suddenly, there’s a parade of school kids marching past, looking at us like, “Why do you get to camp while we suffer through algebra?” I could practically feel the judgment from their side-eyes. I mean, I’m not going to apologize for living my best RV life, but it was awkward. I sipped my coffee a little faster, just in case any of them decided to ask me for homework help.

But, wait! It gets better. Apparently, the local kids like to kick things up a notch by zipping through the park on their motorbikes. So, not only am I awkwardly dodging the gazes of a hundred schoolchildren, but now I’m also playing Frogger with dirt bikes. These kids have clearly mastered the art of making an entrance. Revving engines, zipping through the gravel roads—I think they were auditioning for a “Fast & Furious: Granum Drift” sequel. Not exactly the peaceful, nature-filled morning I had envisioned.

Don’t get me wrong, Granview RV Park is still a win in my book. The wind might try to blow you into the next province, and you might have to dodge a dirt bike or two, but the pond, the off-leash park, and the amenities are chef’s kiss. Just maybe, you know, avoid the Tuesday morning school rush. Or bring earplugs. Or maybe even a helmet—just in case those kids really go for it.
